Hard Drivin’ Man

On this date 52 years ago, J. Geils Band released what I consider one of the three greatest high-energy single disc live albums ever released, Full House. No words can adequately describe how much power is packed into side one of this album. It smokes from the first chord of First I Look at the Purse, a slice of R&B heaven, to the last, Hard Drivin’ Man, without ever letting up on the gas pedal. If there ever exists a College of Musical Knowledge, this album is required listening.

For inquiring minds, the other two single disc live albums capable of melting speakers on Full House’s level for me are The Who Live at Leeds and Johnny Winter And Live. I would write more, but it’s time to cue up Wolf’s Detroit Demolition.

And no, the cover is not a full house. Go figure.
